Getting your Teeth Replaced with All on 4 Dental Implants
The process for getting your teeth replaced with all-on-4 or 6 implants is generally performed in two stages. The first step is to insert dental implants at pre-determined sites in each jaw. The next step is to prepare and attach a complete fixed bridge over these implants either immediately (provisional prosthesis) and/or once healing of the surgical site has taken place (final prosthesis).
Insertion of Dental Implants
Clinical Examination – First, your dentist will perform an examination of your oral cavity to assess your oral health status, to ascertain whether you are a suitable candidate for getting your teeth replaced with an implant-supported prosthesis. He would need digital CBCT scan, your digital jaw models, intra oral and extra oral photographs, etc. After an assessment, if treatment is possible then treating dentist would prepare a detailed treatment plan which will be customised according to your dental needs.
Surgical Procedure – Before starting the surgical procedure of implant insertion, your dentist will first administer local anaesthesia to make your procedure relaxed and pain-free. You also have a choice of doing the procedure availing our sleep dentistry facility – where you are sleeping throughout the procedure and don’t feel a thing. Next, your dentist will carry out the procedure which involves, drilling a hole at each pre-determined (four or six) site in the jaw where the implant needs to be inserted. It will then be screwed into position while applying controlled and precise forces. Once the all-on-4/6 implants have been inserted, your dentist will place a healing cap over the implant and place some stitches.
All-on-4 Dental Implant Loading
After the all-on-4 implant insertion, your dentist will place a temporary dental implant restoration and wait about 4-6 months for complete healing to take place before the implants are loaded with a fixed bridge. Once complete healing of the surgical site has taken place, your dentist will attach a complete fixed bridge to the implant. This is known as delayed implant loading. However, in some cases, dentists may choose to load the implants with the final prosthesis immediately after the insertion. This technique is known as immediate implant loading. In cases where there is enough density and thickness of jaw bone available, generally, four implants are enough to support a complete fixed bridge. However, when more support and stability is required, your dentist may choose to place up to 6 or 8 implants in each jaw to ensure that the prosthesis remains firmly fixed and provides optimal dental function.

The all-on-four or six implants supported prostheses possess the following advantages over the conventional dentures:
Superior Function – because the implants are firmly embedded in the jaw bone, they support the overlying prosthesis and restore optimal chewing and speech efficiency. You can also enjoy your favourite foods as you don’t have to worry about your removable dentures slipping or falling out.
Durability – the all-on-four implant supported bridges tend to last for a lifetime if they are looked after properly. In contrast, removable dentures have a maximum clinical service life of about 5 years.
Aesthetics – beautiful and aesthetically pleasing false teeth made from porcelain, zirconia or acrylic can be attached to the implants, which restore your smile and facial aesthetics.
Safety – the all-on-four implant-supported prostheses are safe for use in the oral cavity, unlike old and damaged removable dentures which may promote fungal or bacterial growth inside the mouth.
